How to #restore a #forgotten passcode

I had this shocking experience about remembering my screen lock passcode😅 I know, I know!!! it's part of growing old😂 They say it's called "the senior moment" when you constantly and surprisingly forget something as weird as your mobile's screen's passcode. To be honest, I was speechless myself. I couldn't believe I could be so stupid and how on earth could I even forget the passcode that I always use to unlock my iPhone 14 plus. This was the first time. Okay, I admit that I also have this forgetful syndrome when it comes to email passwords- That's it! I almost cried due to my stupidity😅😭 I've pressed a combination of different passwords that I can remember, but none of those helped. My mobile was already locked for 24 hours on the 18th of February, 2023.

So what did I do? How did I resolve this problem? How did I unlock my iPhone 14 Plus?

I was hopeless, so the first thing that comes to my mind was to contact Apple Technical Support. I have to book an appointment so the problem is noted or recorded. I talked with the staff she was kind and patient listening to my situation. She referred me to the iMedic at Fashion Island Mall, Ramintra the following day, and she said she will record my case.

I was at the iMedic on the 21st of February 2023. I got a queue at the counter, and when it was my turn, the lady approached me. I told my problem about the screen lock due to a forgotten password or pin code. She said that it wasn't covered by Apple. I was confused and answered, "it is still under warranty, I bought it in December 2022". Besides, the face lock didn't work🙄 (she slightly smiled.. as if I'm a joke or what?🙄) so I had to use the screen passcode, which resulted to lock screen. She didn't even check the warranty coverage yet, but she already said it's not covered and it's a different Apple Shop.

Beware of this alibi. I was lucky that I went to Apple Technical Support and chatted with one of them. I asserted that I spoke with someone online and she referred me to this shop. When I said that you have to look at your system under my name, contact Apple Tech Support to verify if I'm telling the truth. I gave them my iPhone 14 Plus, and she said that it was okay for now. It's free but next time, it'll cost 500 Baht to unlock.

So, she told me to come back after an hour to pick up my mobile. They restore it for me for free. Thank God!❤️ My reasoning skill saved me from a 500 Baht charge (seriously?🙄). Then, I came back to get my phone it was as good as new. They asked me to use my iCloud account (email and password), and it was done. However, it won't be 100% restored until I remember the freaking screen passcode from before.

I didn't know if I'll cry, laugh, or be angry at myself sometimes. I really hate forgetting something🤯 so now, I just wrote down my passwords and sent them to my other email and create a backup account in Gmail to keep all my passwords there and my important documents. I also have only 3 passwords to remember instead of 6!🥴

I went home happy!🤗😍😘 It was a very important lesson about simply remembering a passcode.

Review: The Beach Cafe and Restaurant 💕

If you're planning for your next summer vacation at the Beach, yet you're worrying you have so much work left to do, a hectic schedule, and going out of town is a bit hassle for you, your family, and your friends... There's this place called "The Beach" wherein you could spend more time with your special people without stress and at a reasonable price! Not worrying about the travel time to go to the beach, which is about 2-3 hours or more due to traffic jams.

The Beach Cafe and Restaurant is a perfect place for you. You don't need to go very far to enjoy life at the beach. The beach in the middle of the city, a cafe with a good ambiance, excellent dining experience, and chillax atmosphere like being on a well-known beach resort. It's indeed majestic and exquisite. Mi Air Purifier 3H Product Review

My partner bought two units of air purifiers last 22nd of February, 2023 due to the worsening PM2.5 here in Bangkok, Thailand. The air quality is super bad, too much air pollution and the humidity is high. As someone who has respiratory issues like me who already got an allergy since I was young, I also got asthma which got more triggered as I'm getting old.

At work, I cough so hard as if I'm gonna cough out my two lungs😭. My lungs are getting weak if I exposed myself outside. The AC units in my classroom are filth, the school won't even hire someone to clean it. Perhaps, they're expecting us, teachers to clean it? We call someone to do it for the two AC units at home which costs about 500 Thb for each unit.

This air purifier is a great help to my health, I don't cough at home or feel like breathing heavily. I feel so relieved when it was installed. I needed to scan the manual guide to operate it because it doesn't come with a remote. So then signed up to their website to get access, installed the program, and remote online for these devices.  It's connected to our home wifi on my phone. This is a good product.

Edit: 8th March 2023, 7:10 am, Bangkok Time

Here is the situation here in Bangkok regarding PM2.5, please watch the video below.

This is why we need an air purifier, it's very essential especially if you've got a respiratory illness.

Review: Chonlatee Coffee Shop

Chonlatee Coffee Shop is one of my favorites when it comes to taste. I'm a regular customer here. In fact, I visit on Saturdays before or after my private classes, and this is my favorite place to do my weekly planning on my laptop. After dining here, I went for an hour of Thai massage which cost only 300 Thb per hour, and 50 Thb for the tip because I loved the service.

I also bring my kids with me here to eat breakfast, lunch, or dinner. When I ran out of ideas for venues to celebrate birthdays, and for friends' get-togethers. This place comes to my mind. The food and drinks are fantastic and affordable. The servers are very organized and fast. It is located at 164 Ramkamhaeng, Minburi Bangkok. Below are the menu books. For our brunch, I usually order cheese pizza for my kids and stir-fried squid with Thai basil for me. Today, I ordered an iced-cold cappuccino (frappe) for me and an oreo milkshake for my youngest kid.

Cheese Pizza

Super Spicy Stir-fried Squid with Thai Basil (You can actually say “not spicy or less spicy”😅)

I ordered a cappuccino frappe (imported coffee from Colombia)

Oreo Milkshake

My youngest was enjoying her drink😍

They also have slices of cakes such as blueberry cheesecake, black forest cake, banoffee, strawberry chiffon cake, double chocolate cake, chocolate lava muffin, macarons, waffles, pancakes, ice cream, and a lot more for desserts.

When you frequently order drinks (not including mineral water, soft drinks, or soda) for 10 consecutive times, once the virtual reward voucher via Line is full, you'll get 1 free drink on your next visit.

This is the online voucher

You'll need to scan theirs at the counter after you paid your bill, so you'll get 1 point for every drink that you’ve ordered. On my next visit, I'll have one free drink because my voucher was full and I have 2 stamps for today. It's gonna be my 4th free drink!

Charity Event at The Tall Trees🦋

I received a call from a friend of mine, she asked me and my other bff to attend a charity event on the 25th of February, 2023 because there were two free tickets from a Canadian parishioner worth 1,000 Thai baht each which includes dinner buffet, arts, fashion show, and concert. The proceeds of this charity event will go to St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Minburi.

Prior to the event, Lizza and I also attended a birthday celebration held at The Beach Cafe and Restaurant somewhere in Ladkrabang. So we came at 8PM to The Tall Trees Cafe in Suwinthawong for the charity event. There was nothing much special about the place other than the venue itself. Probably because the shop was about to close at 10pm. The Charity event went well, there were so many attendees. The concert was fantastic. We weren't able to watch the fashion show which started at 6pm because we were still at The Beach.

I was elated to watch a live concert. I'm so thankful for tonight's double fun and entertainment. We ate dinner twice😅 Our driver was Nicole, my eldest daughter. We came home before 10pm. That was really quick!😉

Goodbye, Year 9A

3rd of March, 2023 is the last day of school here in SWN. It was indeed a tough year for me. I was assigned to be a homeroom teacher of Year 9A with 14 students (1st semester)  and eventually became 13 (2nd semester) when Save took the entrance exam, he passed and migrated to Singapore in his new journey. My students are extremely active in class. 3 students out of 13 or 14 were the only ones who could speak calmly and behave or shall I say harmless verbally and physically 😅

Please note that the students' names mentioned here are not their real names.

Actually, I was also their homeroom teacher when they were in Year 6A. I think they're 26 in my class. But, some of them weren't; they're in Y6B (Junior, Phufa, Tonkhaw, Tin2, Mickey), and 2 new students transferred, when they were in Year 7. The two classes were merged because of those students who moved to another school (which usually happens in Y6 and Y9). Most students who left were very good (in academics and behavior). It was also a challenge then, it only got worse when they were in Y9A. They behaved then and somehow could follow classroom rules and respect their teachers. But because the previous homeroom teachers weren't organized in having rules, these students became wild and free. I couldn't blame them, it was also the strict and inconsistent school rules that made them that way. Couple with that, their family background. Some of them were not disciplined at home well enough (spoiled brats, favoritism, sibling rivalry, broken families, etc.). They speak nastily, curse other students in Thai and English, attention-seekers, disobedient, irresponsible, talkative, disrespectful, bullies, rowdy, and obnoxious.

Why can't they be disciplined at school?

Discipline starts at home. If they aren't disciplined at home how do we expect them to become angels and saints anywhere else? Discipline is a learned behavior. Students can see or sense people around them and model what they're doing. Respect is taught at home, too. If they're allowed to shout and talk back to their parents as a way of communication, then I don't think that it's right to blame solely the teachers. Their parents or elders at home are their first role models. These behaviors, the result of their parenting style (or the lack of it), that they adapt at home are the ones manifested by the students at school. These behavioral issues could somehow pick up by other students who aren't exposed to such, then copy them because they think "it's cool".  Social Media is one of the culprits of students 'or teenagers' misbehaviors, in general.

It was the biggest challenge in 2022-2023 that I was able to somehow contain myself even though they were provocative and daring. I'll miss these three students, dearly (Focus, Junior, and Fah). The smart and soon-to-be Cartoonist, Focus; The Computer genius who's more intelligent than his Computer teacher, Junior (Focus and Junior are good friends and they also speak fluent English); and the most behaved student in class, Fah.

What do they have in common?  They are introverted.

In fairness, Y9A class is a bunch of future athletes (soccer, basketball, volleyball, and chair ball) and artists.  The boys joined soccer and basketball and won 1st prize. The girls won chair ball and volleyball, too. I was impressed with their cooperation in the Science, Maths, and Language activities. I admired them during the Christmas presentation and Sports day. Most of them, could draw and sketch like a pro (Maprang, Focus, Pooh, and Mickey). They also have artistic skills in handicrafts (Pinky, Maprang, Pooh, Mickey, and Phufa). Justrin and Sunday are the future Elon Musk with their knowledge and skills in Foreign Exchange. Junior is the future Bill Gates, he's so good at coding and programming. I remember that he installed Linux OS on my old laptop. Focus is the future cartoonist-artist, she sold her drawings and stickers for her savings. At her age, I could tell that she is thrifty, emotionally, and psychologically mature among all of the students in Y9A, although, she was raised by a single mother. She doesn't wanna waste time on gossip or nonsense.

Among 14 of them, only four students are academically gifted (Save, Focus, Junior, and Pinky.  The latter is bright but she needs to change her arrogant behavior that she knows everything. Just because she knows something, doesn't give her the right to disrespect her teachers. She was supporting her friends although they were misbehaving in class, her friends were patronizing her in return. She's the top 1 in class (If there are no Thai subjects, it could've been Focus or Junior).  Save is the Math genius in class, but he moved to Singapore at the end of the Midterm.

March 1-3, the Final examination days at our school. Students were so excited to have their vacation, and some students were waiting for the government school's entrance exam result, so they could move to Grade 11. Others are going to private and international schools. When we had a survey, it turned out that 5 students will stay in our school, and 3 students are still undecided about transferring. The school won't extend Year 10, this coming May 2023.  Those 5 students who decided to stay in our school will be going to the Bilingual Department, thus they'll be in Grade 10 instead of Year 10 (Intensive English Program). To be very honest, it's good that the school won't open Year 10 because they know that these students are getting out of hand.

Should SWN continue to accept Year 10 students, next semester?

As far as I'm concerned,  they should continue only IF the number of students increases by 15 (which is quite impossible) and they MUST do the screening procedure such as the reading, speaking, and writing fluency. Students who cannot or do not speak English must not be admitted. It's troublesome to communicate with students who can't speak English, especially when they can't even read and write proper and basic English at the age of 15. Likewise, the need to undergo a psychological and physical examination to check and evaluate,  if students are not mentally challenged. It's not an institution for students with special needs. I know this is debatable. There are a few exceptions because I know students who have health issues and some with psychological problems who are behaved and still can be respectful to teachers, and follow class rules, and instructions correctly. Students at this age (Year 10) could write long essays already.

Finally, I wish Year 9A well on their next journey to Grade 10 or Year 10. I wish they knew that when it comes to learning, it's more important to have a good attitude because will take them a long way to reach their future goals in life. Furthermore, I hope they realize that their teachers at school are only concerned about their school's performance, and grades, and correcting their wrong attitudes toward learning, for their own good (not to harm them). Being rebellious, disrespectful, arrogant, and disobedient could not lead them anywhere.  And just because, they came from a broken family, they have family problems, or their parents have no time for them doesn't mean that they're a failure, a loser, or complete mess.  Furthermore, influencing or encouraging others to misbehave or disrespect teachers could be a reflection of how they're raised.I strongly believe in one of Aristotle's sayings "educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all".  A humble heart is better than a proud mouth.

It was a tough year😅 Farewell, Year 9A.
